Duct Cleaning Cost in Canada [2026]: Is It Worth It?
Professional duct cleaning in Canada typically costs $300–$600 CAD for an average home, and published prices run from about $200 for a condo to $900 or more for a large or multi-level house, based on cleaning companies and heating installers in Ontario and Alberta checked in October 2026. Home Depot Canada’s service in Toronto averages $189 for up to 10 vents, before tax.

How much does duct cleaning cost?
| Home | Typical price (CAD) | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Condo or small home (up to about 1,500 sq ft) | $200–$400 | 3 companies |
| Medium home (about 1,200–2,500 sq ft) | $400–$700 | 3 companies |
| Large or multi-level home (2,000+ sq ft) | $500–$900+ | 2 companies |
| One furnace system, priced as a package | Example: $345 plus GST; $405 with the AC coil | 1 company (Edmonton area) |
Sources, checked October 2026: Enviropure and Colair (Ottawa), Comfort Union (Calgary) and Home Pros Group (Edmonton area). Only Home Pros says its prices exclude GST; the others don’t say.

Size sets most of the price because a bigger home has more vents, longer runs and sometimes a second furnace. Pricing models differ too: Home Depot’s Toronto service quotes by vent count, with up to 10 vents in its average price, while Home Pros Group prices “the system, not the vent count.” When you compare quotes, translate each one into what it covers in your home: how many vents, which ducts and whether the furnace is included.
Our page on how we build our price ranges explains why Ontario gets a range on this page and the other provinces don’t.
What a full duct cleaning includes
A full job covers every part of the system the air passes through:
- Every supply vent and every return vent, with the count written on the quote.
- The main trunk lines that run from the furnace to the branches.
- The furnace blower and cabinet, where dust collects before it reaches the ducts.
- Before-and-after inspection. Home Depot’s Toronto service includes a camera inspection of the main duct lines when you request it.
- Waste disposal, which some companies bill separately: Alberta Furnace Cleaning lists a materials, energy and waste disposal fee on top of its $119 minimum charge.
An Ottawa company advises confirming that the price covers vents, returns, main trunk lines and the furnace unit, and warns against “ultra-low prices that skip key components” (Colair). Ask for that scope in writing before the crew starts.
Extras and add-ons
A few companies publish what their extras cost. Each row is one company’s price:
| Extra | Example price (CAD) | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Dryer vent, added to a duct cleaning | $60; $150 as a separate visit | Home Pros Group (Edmonton area) |
| Dryer vent | $40–$100 | 1 Clean Air (Ontario) |
| AC coil cleaning | +$60 | Home Pros Group |
| Sanitizing, per furnace system | +$99, “only where needed” | Home Pros Group |
| Each additional furnace | +$150 | Home Pros Group |
| Mould in the HVAC system | $600–$1,000+ | Enviropure (Ottawa) |
Sources checked October 2026.
Home Pros Group charges for sanitizing only where needed. If a crew recommends sanitizing, fogging or deodorizing, ask what they found and to see it on camera before you agree to the extra.
The $99 duct cleaning offer
A Hamilton cleaning company has written up how the $99 flyers and phone offers tend to play out. It competes with the companies behind them, so weigh its account with that in mind: the $99 covers a quick vacuum of a few vents, a “free inspection” turns up mould, and add-ons such as deodorizers and fogging bring the bill to $300–$600 (Vacu-Man).
Use a known price as your yardstick. Home Depot Canada’s Toronto service averages $189 before tax for up to 10 vents. A $99 offer that claims to cover the whole house should tell you how many vents and ducts that includes.
Two Canadian rules protect you:
- In Ontario, duct cleaning can’t be sold door to door unless you started the contact. The rule took effect on March 1, 2018, and a contract signed after an unsolicited visit is void. Other contracts signed at your home come with a 10-day cooling-off period (Government of Ontario).
- Telemarketing calls fall under the National Do Not Call List. In 2015, the CRTC penalized nine Greater Toronto Area duct cleaning companies a total of $149,000 for calling people without registering with the list (CRTC). You can register your number and report calls through the National DNCL.
Before you book any low-price offer, get the price, the vent count and every possible add-on in writing.
Does duct cleaning improve your air?
Natural Resources Canada says duct cleaning “generally has little effect on the HVAC system and indoor air quality,” and that it won’t fix rooms that heat or cool unevenly (Natural Resources Canada). A 2010 review of the research by the National Research Council Canada found poor evidence that duct cleaning improves indoor air quality, and not enough evidence that it relieves symptoms (NRC).
Cleaning companies make broader claims about allergens, dust and energy savings. Before you pay for a cleaning, ask the company to show you camera images of the inside of your ducts. If you can see debris, pests or mould, you have a concrete reason to clean. If the ducts look clean, changing your furnace filter on schedule does more for the system.
The furnace itself needs regular service whether or not you clean the ducts. See our guide to the cost of a furnace tune-up.

Ontario
Ottawa companies publish $300–$600 for an average home at Colair, and $200–$350 for a condo up to $400–$700 for a detached house at Enviropure. Toronto-area heating installers that offer duct cleaning alongside furnace service list $250–$500 (AirPoint) and $300–$500 (Canada Energy Solution), and one cleaning company’s city table puts Toronto at $500–$1,100 (1 Clean Air). Home Depot’s Toronto service averages $189 for up to 10 vents, with tax and additional services extra.
User-reported quotes show how far apart prices can be. In a 2026 Burlington thread on Reddit, one homeowner was quoted $900 for a 1,600 sq ft townhouse and cancelled after other Burlington users reported paying much less; another reported paying $200 for a 1,100 sq ft townhouse, dryer vent included (r/BurlingtonON). The difference between those two homes is 500 sq ft; the difference between the prices is $700.
Alberta
Two companies publish full price lists. Comfort Union in Calgary charges $250–$400 for a home up to 1,200 sq ft, $400–$600 for 1,200–2,000 sq ft and $600–$900 or more above that. Home Pros Group, in the Edmonton area, charges $345 plus GST for one furnace system and its ducts, or $405 with the AC coil. Get a third quote to see where yours falls.
Manitoba
Winnipeg Duct Cleaning advertises prices starting at $299 (Winnipeg Duct Cleaning), and Lidoma Home Services ran a $155 limited-time offer in 2025 that included a furnace inspection (Lidoma). Ask any low-price offer for its vent count and add-on list in writing.
How to compare duct cleaning quotes
- Get at least three written quotes. An Ottawa company notes that quotes can differ by $100 or more for the same home.
- Ask how the price is set: per vent, per square foot or per furnace system. Then count your vents.
- Check the scope against the checklist above, including returns, trunk lines and the furnace.
- Ask which extras they might recommend, and their prices, before the crew arrives.
- Ask whether tax and disposal fees are included.
- Ask for camera images before and after the cleaning.
Frequently asked questions
How much is Home Depot duct cleaning?
Home Depot Canada lists an average price of $189 for furnace and air duct cleaning in Toronto, covering up to 10 supply or return vents, a multi-point inspection and waste disposal. Taxes and additional services are extra, and the actual price may vary. Its Winnipeg page gives no price and quotes by phone, so check your local store’s page.
How often do you really need to clean your air ducts?
The Canadian government sources we checked don’t call for regular duct cleaning. Natural Resources Canada says it generally has little effect on the heating system and indoor air quality, and a National Research Council Canada review found poor evidence of benefit. Clean your ducts when you can see a reason, such as debris, pests or mould, and change your furnace filter every one to three months.
